the devil and his eggs...
Truth be told, I am horrilbe not too good in the kitchen. The hubs does a majority of the cooking in our casa, which I am sure for that Ava is greatful. If I had it my way, vegetables would be outlawed, and our pantry would consist of chips and bread, while the fridge would be stocked full of chip dip, dt. mt. dew, and pepsi. I'm just sayin...
Luckly for Ava, Daddy feels differently about food ((if I were being completely honest, I would just go ahead and admit that I have food anxiety. seriously. we are talking sweaty palms, hives, and sheer panic before my food arrives at our table in a restaurant. but that is an entirely seperate post.)) and so he is sure to make things like ranch style beans, spaghetti, meatloaf, and the like.
Theonly few times I do cook, it is for Ava's school commitments. Sandwiches, cookies, finger foods and the like. Today is her "Thanksgiving Luncheon" at school, so that means parents had to sign up to bring a dish. The catch was that it had to be "ready to serve". So what did the Hubs sign Ava me up for? None other than deviled eggs. Easy peasy, right? Sure, if you like to make things to taste. The catch for me is I loathe all condiments. no mustard, mayo, ketchup, ranch, or italian dressing for me. double-yuck. so when my momma told me that they were so easy, you just mix the egg yolk with mayo and a little bit of mustard to taste, I threw up in my mouth a little got a little nauseous.
After I regained my composure, I googled a recipe that had actual measurements of thenasty said ingredients.

Well, they look right. I will leave the tasting up to the 4-year-olds and their parents at the party :)

Back in the swing of things!
Finally, I am feeling so much more like myself! Thank you so much for your sweet comments...they seriously made me feel so much better! It was good to take a week off and just focus on getting out of that yucky funk I was in! I am back, and feeling ready for whatever comes this way!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, lets talk about somethign fun, shall we?
When I first heard about the blog-world I had no idea how much I would come to stalk love the blogs that I read! So many girls out there who I swear could be my sister or my best friend in real life. You girls are amazing! You make me laugh, cry, think, and cheer when I read your stories. And, even better, I get great comments and words of wisdom on my blog too! I seriously never thought I would come to love people I have never met! Ya'll ROCK!
One on my all time favorite blogs that I love to stalk read is none other than Miss Jill's blog. This momma is sweet, kind, thoughtful, and down-right Hillarious! She has funny stories of being a pre-k teacher, a first time mommy, a wife, a daughter...the list could go on forever.
A few weeks ago, she introduced a super fun idea on her blog. See, she is a lover or all things Christmas, and thought it might be fun to do a bloggy ornament exchange. How fab is that? I immediately emailed her to get my name on the list, so that I could be matched with a new blog friend! Jill poured over her entries and matched me with sweet Megan, and I was so excited! How great to get to exchange with someone I don't know quite as well as some of the other wonderful ladies who also follow Jill's fab blog.
So I set out this weekend to Target with Little Miss Priss to scower the shelves to find the perfect MerryChristmas ornament for Megan! Let me just say, this was no easy task! There are so many styles of ornaments, and I just wasn't sure...
Man, so many choices! I have never been good at making decisions, so there I stood it Target with 10 ornaments in my basket..none of them saying they were the one for Megan. and then I saw it....
How cute is he? I thought he would be perfect because even if he doesn't match Megan's tree, she can sit it out somewhere! I hope you like it Megan!
And Jill, I can't wait to play again next year! Seriously, SO FUN!!

Up next? A little bit of my weekend recap!
On Saturday, we went to a super sweet little girl's 4th Birthday. Miss Kyra and Ava used to go to school together at The Peanut Gallery. When the school closed, Kyra's parents decided to keep her home, while Ava moved to The Whistle Stop. The girls were BFF's, so it is always great to get them together! The party was at ChuckECheese, Ava's favorite place in the world! They ate pizza, played games, danced with Chuck E., and had a blast!
Thank you for inviting us to your party Sweet Kyra! We had a BLAST!
------------------------------------------------------
On Sunday, Miss Priss got a new winter coat that I am in love with! Thank you Gap for always having such adorable clothes!!!

And Just because I think she is adorable, I will leave you with a picture of my silly girl!
She LOVES Daddy's hats :)
Happy Monday Everyone!!

a bit of a funk...
I have been in a little BIG funk lately.
A blog funk. A work funk. A wife funk. A mom funk. A friend funk. I guess it really is a life funk.
I wake up everyday and go through the same motions. Alarm. Snooze. Shower. Ava wake up. Justin wake up. Makeup. Hair. Ava Breakfast. Dress. Ava Dress. Pack lunch. School Drop off. Train. Work. Train. School pick up. dinner. laundry. books. computer. Ava bedtime. Bedtime.
And the cycle returns 8 hours later. I feel exhausted. annoyed. defeated. failure. dissapointed. anger. and then I just crawl under the covers and wish it all away.
I have spent some time asking myself how I got here, and that doesn't help at all. That just makes me get inside my head and feel even more anger and defeat. So now I am just asking how i get out of here.
Please tell me I am not the only one who goes through this at times. And if you do know what I am talking about, then I ask, what do you do when your in a funk?

Weekend Recap...
Editors Note: Because I couldn't get my crap together was extremely busy last week, I didn't have time to blog about Ava's fall festival at school. So that is going to be included in our Weekend Recap!
This past Wednesday we got all dressed up and headed to The Whistle Stop Station's Annual Halloween Extraviganza! It was so much fun! They have you park at an elementary school a block away, and then the WSS Spooky Bus picks you up and takes you to the school. Ava was in HEAVEN riding that bus! Once we got to the school, teachers and staff greeted you in their Halloween finest. There were games to play, candy to eat, and even professional pictures to be taken of your little ghosts and goblins!
Finally, we found Miss Alyissa, Ava's teacher! Ava LOOOVVESSS her, and was in such a better mood once we found her :)
What a fun weekend! It was so nice here, and we got in some much needed really great family time!
Saturday was such a fun day! Ava and I had a blast making "brunch" that included some homemade pigs in a blanket. She was so excited to get to roll them :)
On Sunday, we had alazy relaxing morning that consisted of watching cartoons and snuggling in bed. It was georgeous outside, so after naptime we headed to the little playground at our apartment for a little fun in the sun :)
I hope ya'll had a fabulous weekend too! Happy Monday!

Bat girl was a little nervous at first. There were a TON of kids and parents, so I don't blame her!
Waiting to play a fun game with Emily.
She still wasn't sure about this....

Playing Miss Alyissa's game...so happy now!
At the end of the night with "Witch Jenny".
So much fun, and we can't wait to do it again next year!!

After brunch and a nap, we got ready for Trick-or-treating. Ava is really going through a shy/nervous stage right now, so we had a little bit of a rough start. The first 10 houses or so she clung to my leg as I held open her bag and said "trick-or-treat" and "thank you". I asked if she just wanted to go home, but she wasn't having any of that. After she warmed up, she was a natural! She was running from house to house and yelling "trick-or-treat" and "thank you" when it was all said and done.
On Sunday, we had a
